Wellbeing at SideKit: Foundations of our wellness program

At SideKit we are pretty passionate about all things health and in 2023 we are taking steps to ensure that not only are we prioritising it, but, we live and breathe it in all we do.

We help businesses grow and flourish because we want to see people thrive. A key value that keeps our team grounded and influences the work we do is putting our health and life before business. We genuinely believe that doing this is actually beneficial for business because staff will be happier and the workplace is generally more productive.

Over the years we've learnt to put our health first and want to ensure our people can do the same. And not just in our workplace but also our clients and their teams wellbeing too. We're practicing what we preach and formalising Sidekits very own wellbeing program, so wellbeing is at the core of everything we do.

Our program is being designed with the following in mind to ensure we are successful in implementing it into our everyday practices.

Leadership commitment

Everyone in the workplace needs to be on board with the program, especially the leaders and directors. SideKit has full leadership commitment from our founder Kit. She feels it is part of her responsibility to ensure her staff are well. This idea stems from her belief that if you look after your people, they will look after you. Leaders need to support their own wellness allowing them to do their jobs fully but also understand how they can support and empower others wellness. It's a pretty big commitment.

Processes, policies, & practices

Now it is time to solidify everything you have said. For us, this is where wellbeing becomes the forefront of all of our actions. We have formulated a statement to share with our staff and clients which acts as a goal to guide these actions.

Processes include all the things we will be doing to support wellbeing in our workplace and work towards our wellbeing goals. Initiatives and strategies that educate and empower our teams health as well as our clients and our external network. We want our practices to be meaningful to our team so we have listened and considered the best measures we can take to support them.

Training & upskilling

To successfully implement a program of this scale, training must be involved. We want to provide education, training, and examples of wellbeing for our staff so they understand the significance of their wellbeing and why we care about it. Looking at the numbers of unhappy people at work is just a start.

Training managers to undertake such a task is pretty important too. Kit has completed life coach training to better support staff and clients so she can ask the right and sometimes hard questions.

There is no single version of wellbeing because it means something different to everyone. But we are dedicated to empowering our people, clients, and network to show up at work and in their lives as their best selves. We are still building our program, but these are some of the foundations we are putting emphasis on. We will share more updates and any interesting findings we come across along the way!
